This week we examine the rich history of gay culture in Hampton Roads for Pride month. The EPA donated roughly $2 million to a local group to develop messaging about recycling. The long wait is over. Palm reading is finally legal in Norfolk. WHRO's Ryan Murphy sat down with a reader who's been doing it since the 1950s. Finally, as election season nears, WHRO's Connor Worley shares how the ward-based voting system developed in Norfolk in the 1980s.

And another motherdu¢king thing ! Everyone didn't give up their farms to move on reservations. A lot of s indians kept our farms. Many of us moved west to non-reservation lands and bougjt acres there. In my family we still have land. But i have family, cousins, uncles, aunts that are in reservations. But other family didn't go. I'm 53. My father was born in 1864, died in 1918, and his 2nd wife my grandmother was born in 1879, died 1964. I am the son of elderly people. We're Bajan Arawak (not direct chief), Chata (not direct chief), Powhatan and Tutelo-Saponi direct chief's on my fathers side, and Narragansett and Piscataway on my mothers side non direct chief. I would have chexked that woman for referring to me as aonr of Jesse Jackson "African American" in 1988. I was 17 yeats old then and my father hated it. My maternal grandmother wouldn't stand for it and told us growning up that we were indians. We farmes corn, squash, beets, greens, pumpkin, tomatoes, chile peppers. Raised roosters, hens, Guinea Fowl, hens and bittoe chicks. Smoked our own meat in a cinder block smoke pit with hickory logs. And we only went to the market for certain things. All 12 of my uncles and aunts were born from 1890- 1918, counting my father made 13 of them. They told me that we were Indians as i stated.
The Nottoway Tribe is the tribe Nat Turner was from and his grandmother was the chief if the trube. You can xheck that sh!t in the US Census. Go look it up ! Secondly Fake Chief Walt is the 5th adopted grandson of Nat Turner's grandmother. So how the fu¢k is Walt the chief ???????????? The War Chief is the actual bloodline Chief..

Who is the attorney for this lawsuit?
I checked the comments, and no one is talking about the question regarding disclosure not being answered. We can’t have sex that way.. lady tell your partnerzzzzzz that you have Houses in Virginia from minute one. That wasn’t even the question. Nasty ass work here.
Thank you for this
They look delicious 👍
This guy is terribly vague and often contradictory...
Where is Mr. Jerry Carter, we miss him over here in Carrollton
This was a great interview. I discussed my love for bikes during the Neighborhood Leadership Institute. I like seeing/hearing positive media about the motorcycle community. I’m currently the Vice President of the 7Cities Ruff Ryders here in Hampton Roads.
You put waaaaay too much camera-time to your talking face. We don't care about your opinions (or your face) - just show the cooking technique.
Nation of Islam was never a movement. You sees it as a movement. 💥💣
This is so well done. The interviewer, the responses. Lovely. Thank you.
You must be stopped instead of accusing native americans that's part european caucasian of something ! Ethnicities, prove we're not a race and mammals , aren't either !

as a child of the 50’s and 60’s i feel cheated by the american school system for not teaching me the real history
Thank you for posting this memorial tribute from 2010 for Lisa. I was blessed to have her as a true friend. ❤

We have the same ancestors, Chief Brown is a newly found cousin. Wow
Do the Nottoway still speak their language?
I take it to mean, the Nottoway, lost their language long ago, so they no longer can speak their native language. That is so said to lose their language. Being a very small tribe, is very easy, to lose their language fast.
Thanks for sharing❤
I thoroughly appreciate your interview, questions were honest but appropriate. In a perfect world, color shouldn’t matter. I’m an American born mexican woman taught to stay within my culture but my marriage to a Mexican man didn’t survive. I researched my ancestry and found that my family has African and European ancestry. I’m happy that these racial attitudes are continually changing in America and around the world. God has blessed us with the ability to love one another.
Wow! I thought I was the only who remembered that George Adams record. Beautiful album. Kenny Wheeler was on that session. Richie Beirach played so wonderful piano on that too.

What’s crazy is Mascon leather was the reason I started doing leatherwork. I’ve built my own style since then but it’s uncanny how my works resembles his. I’ve done many many projects and I’m only satisfied with them if I can see a little bit of our style in it. If
Get over it
I loved this story. One of the aspects that struck me other than issues of poverty, race, housing, incarceration and redemption was the turn of media coverage and sensationalism in modern times. The media with twitter and fast flashes of a person throws it out without exploring the story behind the story. It destroys a person’s life and character in a few seconds and the platform disregards what is actually happening. It’s a waste of a platform that could be used to understand the complexities of marriage and larger issues facing Americans.
Jae why didn't you preheat the oven?
The Pamunkey tribe is highly racist. Up until 2013 they had a law that you can’t marry a black person. Norfolk isn’t even Pamunkey territory. They’re from the Richmond area. Norfolk is Accawmacke territory.
Being Indian could led you to a jail so people don't claim they identity The first special census date back to 1790 1968 the racial integrity act get overthrown by the Suprem Court The identity of Indian tribes in Virginia in early 1900s changed to colored . After 1924, the racial Integrity Act they became to Negro. An attempt to create one race that will be white by changing birth certificates and marriage license
Yoo its me Genesis what is upp younger me😅
